Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I’m working with an amazing group of 7th graders in a self-contained math class in Astoria, Queens. This underfunded Title I public school is in NYC. Having laptops for the students would greatly help them learn in fun and exciting ways that will keep them engaged. My students are excited to learn and eager to participate, but as some of you may remember, they’re afraid of math. Math does not need to be as scary if I can incorporate technology into my daily lessons. Thank you for your consideration in helping the future of America.

My Project

These materials will help students in math and other subjects! Having a working printer and a laminator, along with supplies like markers and paper will help my students feel more engaged in their work. No one likes to write and create with pencil on white paper. I've seen the difference it makes in their work when I simply have them use markers and work on colored paper. Students will work harder when they see the work that I put into the creation of the activities with the use of a color printer and laminator. Having a color printer will brighten up their work and will create excitement around worksheets and projects. Having new expo markers will be a great addition to my math classroom, as students love to play games that involve writing on whiteboards and desks, and having working dry-erase markers will give them the opportunity to enjoy learning! Students will better be able to visualize their work on larger spaces and be able to make and learn from their math mistakes more visually.
