My Students

Imagine being a worried child because your family can't afford to purchase your basic supplies, or coming home from school and upset because you don't have a pencil to do your homework. My students struggle with these situations every day.

Our school is a Title 1 elementary school located in New York City.

The government has classified 56% of our school's population as 'economically disadvantaged' and every day many students rely upon the 'Free & Reduced Price Lunch' program to nourish them. I am a collaborative teacher who co-teaches a class of 32 wonderful 9-year Olds, who enter each day eager and excited to learn. My students are diagnosed with multiple disabilities including: speech and language impaired, learning disabled, autistic, emotionally disturbed, ADHD, and other health impairments. Our public school in New York City works extremely hard to provide each child with a wonderful learning experience to make sure they never realize their school is being impacted by budget cuts. Because of these budget cuts, our school can no longer provide necessary materials for our third grade classroom. So, I have turned to Donors Choose to seek your help!

My Project

My students need basic supplies to keep our classroom going, like notebooks, folders, pencils, erasers, markers, and incentive charts. While these materials may seem basic, they are crucial to creating many important learning experiences in the classroom. For example, the students will all come to school ready to start their school year with a homework folder, pencils for class work, and notebooks for the various subjects. The markers and construction paper will aid our classroom to create art projects because our school no longer has an art program. In addition, these materials will also help to staple student artwork and class work on the bulletin boards. These school supplies will help us organize and manage our center time and behavioral management plan. These basic materials will help ensure that we have all we need to keep us learning all year long.

With your help my students will have the tools they need to continue progressing.
