Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students need quality art supplies to create quality assignments and rise to the challenges that the arts has to offer them. I am sure we all remember sitting in our art classrooms and not having enough supplies. My students deserve to have the supplies that they need to make creative artwork.

My students love coming to the art room to create 3D design and ceramics assignments however supplies are in demand and there is not enough for all my students.

While school budgets are coming back they have not yet reached the art room and I find that I quickly run out of the supplies needed to maintain a high quality program for my students. Many of my students come from low income families and they come to me upset that they can not help donate supplies for the classroom. These donations will make my students happy that there are donors willing to help them out to create high quality art. chevron

My Project

My students will be able to use a lot of these tools for assignments all year long and for more years to come. The x-acto knives, rulers, ceramic tools can all be used for more than one year!!!! Students will create self portrait sculptures, Claymation figures, architecture models, yunomi's, coffee mugs, styrofoam sculptures to just name a few of the assignments. Students will learn how to be creative problem solvers, communicate in a visual way, confidence in creating artwork, and a life long appreciation for the arts. These are all skills that employers in the 21st century are looking for. Students will come out of high school with skills to take to college and careers. chevron

My students sometimes feel because they come from a low income area that people look down on them and do not believe in them.

When they find out that a lot of the tools they use have been donated to them they become excited that donors are willing to help them out to become better artist and students. Sometimes for my students art class is the only subject that is keeping them coming to school, for others they need a relaxing creative outlet to express themselves. chevron
