Have you ever heard a Japanese high school band? Most people unfortunately have not. Their level of blend and intonation is remarkable and unbelievable. Almost all Japanese school bands use this special training tool which, until now, has only been available in Japan.
Most of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes and they eat free or reduced school lunch meals on a daily basis.
I know that music education is making them better human beings and well rounded citizens of our country. As well, music is improving their test scores on state mandated tests. My students love band so very much; so much, that the band hall is their second home. Not just their second home, but also their second family. They are always looking out for each other in any way possible. They know that it is an honor to be a musician in our band program and they take it very seriously. So, even though we may not have the best equipment for learning music, they will always try their best.
My Project
My students need a Harmony Director Keyboard to improve their harmony training, rhythm training and ensemble timing. This comprehensive tool brings harmony training, rhythm training and ensemble timing together in one convenient device. It will enable me to clearly demonstrate pure temperaments while teaching my students how to tune individual notes within chords, so that entire chords may be tuned. The Harmony Director will help my students understand how each part fits into the complete harmony of the ensemble. This level of understanding will help my band move from good to outstanding.
