Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello everyone, this is an exciting school year for our 2/3/4 self contained bridge class. My class is made of 13 students with different disabilities and cognitive levels. My students come to school everyday smiling and ready to learn.

Their disabilities range from learning disabilities, Autism, Speech and language impairment and Downs Syndrome.

My students work hard and are learning reading, writing, math and how to interact with one another and be part of the school community while having a disability.

My Project

My superheroes (students) often complain that they cannot find something to read. But the reality is that they struggle finding and reading interesting and engaging books. My students need books that are rich in images and have have characters they know and love.

Reading can be a challenge, especially when the book my student is reading is unrelatable and missing the visual cues necessary to make sense of the words.

The books in my project will help my students increase their interest in reading as it is the theme of our classroom.

The books will liven our classroom library and spark new interest in reading.
