My Students

My students consist of elementary school students, grades K-5, who come to school each day eager to learn! Many of the students I work with have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and are significantly below grade level. I am a special education teacher who works with various small groups of students who have an IEP or are at risk of falling behind in their academics. I work to develop their literacy skills through multi-sensory approaches.

My goal every day is to help these struggling students make progress and feel more confident in their abilities.

I want them to become life long learners!

My Project

Flexible seating is a way to modify a classroom setting to best meet the needs of all learners. Students who are active and continuously move around all day benefit from flexible seating options for parts of the academic school day.

These Wobbly Chairs and Seat Cushions are options students can use during specific academic activities to help them maintain focus and feel comfortable completing work!

A student who has trouble focusing on their writing pieces may benefit from a Wobbly Chair during writing activities. This ability to move while in their chair can help them focus on their writing more easily. Another student may benefit from the option during independent reading. It is important for the flexible seating option to be presented at a time when the student truly needs assistance academically.
