My Students

Do you remember what it is like to read all about a famous person for the first time? I am a general education 4th grade teacher. This is my 6th year at my school. This year my students are reading above grade level. I do not have enough higher level books to meet their needs.

My students are reading above grade level.

They are eager to learn and enjoy reading about famous and important people. My school is located in NYC and is made up of students from many different cultures and backgrounds. It is important for them to read about people from many different places and to learn about different things in history.

My Project

Your help will ensure that my students have access to appropriate books to support a biography reading unit and a non-fiction reading unit. This will provide my students with the knowledge they need to be successful in the future in middle school and high school.

This project is of great importance to me because I want to help my students succeed as learners and to help them to expand their knowledge of history.

When reading biographies, my students can see that everyday people can succeed and have great futures. It is important for children to have positive people to look up to and to use as role models.
