Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We celebrate inclusion and diversity at our school. Our kindergarten consists of children with special needs, children who are newcomers to our country and children who have many socioeconomic challenges. Our children enjoy hands-on learning and it is amazing to see their faces light up when learning something new or grasping a new skill for the first time.

Kindergarten is such an amazing year of a student's development.

Our students will make tremendous gains during the school year. We have 60 kindergarten students between three teachers at our school. Our students are living in a time like no other. They come to school with excitement and a spark for learning each day, even when learning remotely.

Our students are highly motivated to learn new skills and enjoy learning from each other. They enjoy answering questions and sharing information. I am amazed at the growth that our young learners have made thus far through online learning. It is difficult for them, but they are up for the challenge. I am so excited to see what else they will do. Our students are awesome!

My Project

Most of our students come from low-income households. Our students may not have access to the specific materials we are requesting. These supplies will ensure that each student has what they need to successfully complete online learning activities. These are materials that students would have had access to in the classroom, but do not due to our district being fully remote at this time.

The materials we are requesting will be used for reading, writing and math lessons.

The dry erase boards and markers will be used to practice writing sight words, numbers and math equations. The notebooks will be used for journaling. The playing cards will be used for comparing numbers and working on math equations. The supply boxes will be used for students to store their materials. The sheet protectors will be used for paper activities sent home so that they can be used multiple times.
