My Project

I am requesting these materials to make learning fun and engaging while also creating lightbulb moments and memories in my classroom. My students are so special because they are entering second grade and their minds are ready to blossom. I personally love this age because they are the most ready to learn. They’re not too small where they don’t know everything yet, but they’re old enough to see huge progress from the beginning to the end of the year, I want to create this environment to foster learning in a variety of different ways so that every child gets there needs met.

My goal is to create literacy and math centers focused on manipulatives and games so that the students have a visual way of learning while also making it fun and not boring.

The literacy games such as the synonym or antonym puzzles or the CVC boards will help students achieve greater proficiency and reading and comprehension and really meet their goals. While working in small group, we can also use these tools. I am also requesting the math manipulatives like the Poppets or the 10 frames so that students can see their mathematical thinking in a visual way and really promote learning and understanding of numbers and not just memorization of a strategy.

The building blocks or toys that I am requesting is for early finishers or for morning starts to make a slow morning. I think that the students enter the classroom if they had a stressful morning or if they’re tired, it just wakes up their brain in a softer way and will allow the students to think creatively. It’s still educational, problem-solving but it’s not direct learning so their brains can turn on in a better way, and promote teamwork.
