Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with 20, wonderful and inquisitive pre-kindergarten students in a very diverse school in Brooklyn, New York. We have children from many different cultures in our class and children with many special abilities.

Our preK students love to learn new things daily!

For many of these children, it is their first year in school. They are learning about themselves, others, school rules, routines, and many new concepts in various subjects! They have many opportunities to explore what kind of learners they are and learn concepts in many different ways!

My Project

Science and social studies are two very important topics for young learners. As we progress through the school year, my class needs books that cover these topics and are diverse. I want my students to see themselves in these subject areas and learn important concepts that increase their intelligence, self esteem, and knowledge of the world around them.

Our curriculum has become more diverse in all subjects and we need new science and social studies books for it!

My students are about to embark on learning about all about water, plants, life cycles, how they have grown and changed, how animals grow and change, and how the world is changing all around us. They will learn about what it is to grow and change from a preK student to a kindergartener as well as when they move on from this grade to the next. This is an exciting time for my students to explore these science and social studies concepts and all we need are the books to support learning these concepts!

Any help you can give us in receiving diverse science and social studies books would be greatly appreciated!
