Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Second grade is the best grade to teach. The students are energetic, excited, and eager to learn. Each day they arrive at school waiting to absorb the content being taught. It is important that these activities are rigorous and engaging. Hands-on materials are necessary for active participation.
With most students in low-income housing, it is crucial to give them the tools they need to be successful whether they're engaged in live or remote learning.
My students have many different learning styles due to their various cultures and backgrounds. It is imperative to give them every tool they need to be successful as most students learn differently. Hands-on materials and various literature will help them stay engaged and expand on their love of learning.
My Project
With the financial effects of COVID, teachers have lost their stipend to buy basic supplies for the classroom. Students typically use teacher-made resources from chart paper, printed games and posters to help them learn. Since students need their own center game to work on independently, individual games will need to be created for each student.
This project will help fund supplies that allow teachers to create resources to support student learning.
Once the need for basic school supplies are met, myself and the students will be able to flow through the day seamlessly.
