This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our four-year-old preschool classroom is a child's first real-life experience within a school setting. Families are eligible through their income or other risk factors, such as having a single parent or the parent was a teenager when the child was born.
Our students are always eager to learn, soaking up learning like little sponges.
We offer them a wide variety of hands-on activities such as playdough, painting, drawing, writing, riding bikes, music, and movement.
My Project
We will read these Scholastic magazines during class time and send them home with our 18 four-year-olds to share with their families. Our parents always ask what they can do to help better prepare their child for kindergarten. We often encourage parents to read to their child, with their child, and besides their child. Students are allowed to check out picture books from our class library once per week. We have a great selection to choose from.
Our state-funded PreK program aims to help build confident excited readers for many years to come.
