My Project

Ever wonder why the superheroes we know and love stay in our brains for years and years? If you take away the outlines and details of a character and just leave the basic colors of their costume, we're still able to identify them in seconds.

Color Hierarchy is a huge factor in character design and that's what this project is all about!

We use my character design unit to learn about the science of color theory as well as the technical aspects that come along with the duties of being a cartoonist or animator. My students have come to me with great ideas for characters, but we still need the supplies. So let's make some awesome, authentic, colorific superheroes! These heroes will dazzle the photoreceptors in your eyes, touch your heart and who knows? Maybe they'll wind up in a movie one day!
