This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are an enthusiastic group of first graders. I teach a group of first-graders who love learning and going to school. If you were to ask my students what their favorite subject is, you would get a wide range of answers including math, reading, social studies, science, and art.

Our school is very small but diverse.

We not only have many regular education classes but also have three special education classes. Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school with 100% of our students receiving free lunch. Most of my first graders are Limited English Proficient.

I am requesting pencil boxes, dry erase boards with numbers to 120 on one side and ten frames and a timeline on the other side, individual tens frames kits, a Rekenrek make and build kit, black felt tip markers, watercolor pads, 1 inch tissue paper squares, and folders. The students will get to make their own Rekenrek kits for counting. We will use the black felt tip markers for all types of writing and art. The fun 1 inch size tissue paper will be used for our Mother's Day vases. Watercolor pads will be used to paint beautiful art. The pencil boxes will be used to hold any school supplies. The green folders will hold all important work they create. The individual tens frames are so that the students can visualize a variety of math concepts with our skill-building trays and counters. Finally, the handy dry erase board with numbers to 120 will let children explore counting, addition, subtraction and more…right at their desks!
