Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 11th grade art at a Charter High School. We serve a high needs community in an economically depressed area of Los Angeles.

The students at our High School are a lively bunch. A group of them have gathered to form a Screen Printing club after school. However due to our low resources we are left with the only option to make petitions to donors like you. Fund raising has been tried before but due to a depressing economic status of the nation, selling fruit at school was unsuccessful. The screen-printing club was formed to gather artistic talent and for students to express themselves and learn a new process. This club helps many of the students distract themselves from the problems and bad influences in life.

We need 20 silk-screens, 15 containers of fabric paint, ten silk screen squeegees and chemicals for silk-screening. The artistic methods and practice of silk screening will teach students responsibilities by accomplishing a project on time, using limited supplies and exercising their creativity. At the same time it will give a hands-on experience in designing and advertisements for those interested in pursuing a related major in college and our future job.

For us to accomplish this we need YOUR help, economically. We gladly welcome,and humbly ask for any donation for paint, paper, and materials we will need. Any donation is an immense help and support, and it will also make a great difference. We appreciate your time and consideration.
