My Project

Hi, I am Ms. King and I am the school counselor at an elementary and middle school. My students call me "Super Counselor with the cape," because my superpower is helping all of our students soar to their potential, academically, emotionally, and socially.

I am looking forward to providing our students with a wonderful new an relaxing office next year.

Most of my decorations were destroyed when the replacement of windows effort started last summer. This year, I must remove all items and place them in storage. I selected many sensory materials to help them calm down when feeling overwhelmed and stressed. I have purchased new relaxing chairs so that students are comfortable when visiting my office.

I am lucky to be able to work with all students, those in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. I wear my super cape daily and change the colors monthly to represent that change is welcome among all. This year, I received smaller capes for my students to represent their outstanding character traits. I had students coming to my office telling all of the wonderful things they did that day to deserve a chance to wear a cape. I enjoy having students come to my office for breaks to help them get back into a state where they are ready to learn.

I selected a lot of items including books that will have students learn more about Social Emotional Learning and how to manage their behaviors to be able to return to class whole and SOAR to their potential! I am looking forward to planning the best 24/25 school year for our school and with your help, I will be able to do just that. Thank you for the support.
