My Project

Sunflowers can't help but make people happy when they bloom. The sunny yellow flowers are reminiscent of the sun and people can't help but smile when they see sunflowers growing in the garden. We want to create a Sunflower Wall of raised beds on campus for everyone to see and love. If the flowers grow well enough we can also have cut flowers available for the student body.

For my students, being able to set up a growing area, put the raised beds out and fill them with soil, plant the sunflowers and sit back and watch them grow is priceless!

Being able to share their hard work with their friends at school and family at home will be even more fulfilling for them. STEM comes in many forms, and being outside in the garden is a STEM party all day, every day! The learning process of horticulture and growing things in the garden is my favorite way to share STEM with my students. And the SEL benefit of seeing our hard work in the beautiful blooms that grow will be even more meaningful.
