My Project

Every summer, students at our school have the opportunity to participate in a Summer Enrichment program from 8am-12pm. They are also provided with a free lunch after the program. This is to give them an opportunity to have a structured supervised program for them to do for at least half of the day, so that they are not just sitting at home playing with electronics.

Many of these students come from low-income households, and I know they will love to learn how to hand stitch a Sock Monkey, however, I need help purchasing the many materials needed for these 24 students that I will have.

I used to purchase the materials myself, however, it became very pricey because as you can see in my cart, there are a lot of materials needed for this project.

I enjoy seeing the proud look on the students' faces when they complete their project. They are in awe that they were able to accomplish sewing and creating a cute monkey and can't wait to share it with their family. I've had students from 3 summers ago come up to me and say they still have their sock monkey and continue to sleep with it.
