Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When I said goodbye to my students in March, I didn't realize it would be the last time I was seeing them this year. They left with the intention of coming back and as a result, did not take all their needed supplies with them.

The focus of their learning has now been to provide distance learning through virtual means in which many students did not have computers or have outdated broken ones without cameras.

Being from a school with students with families with low income and multiple jobs, my students are struggling to have support at home to be successful. My students are eager to learn and see one another once again through our Zoom meetings which many must rely upon their parents to get home to use their phones to do. My students are wanting to go back to normal life and unfortunately, this is the only normal that I can provide for them during this time. We must continue to fight through this and work together to show them that their education is still important and our number one priority!

My Project

My students require up to date laptops at home so that they may be able to engage in distance learning and utilize a camera for our Zoom meetings. Students are unable to currently access all the programs and resources available because many do not have laptops to achieve this goal.

With two laptops, I am able to provide two students with the opportunity to complete their distance learning during summer school and engage in our Zoom meetings to continue their academic success.

With this laptop, I am able to virtually interact with them as it provides a camera to be seen during our Zoom meetings. My students will be able to see one another which will provide a comforting feeling during these trying times. I believe this will help bring a sense of normalcy back to their learning that has been severely disrupted.
