My Students

My school is a Title I school. We have many students in low-income homes. In the fall, when students should be able to return to full in-person school, the families may not be able to purchase enough items for each of the classrooms that they need to go into. For example, my ELD students won't be able to carry their supplies from their classroom to mine. I will need to have their supplies individualized for them to use and not have to transfer supplies from room to room.

My Project

Many of the students coming to my summer school program have all been learning online. They have missed out on a lot of experiences and in-person activities. The students I am teaching this summer are also English Language Learners and need as much hands-on learning and discovery as possible.

The activities, pencils, name tags, décor, and books will help the students feel like they are all in this together, like a summer school family!

For summer school, everything needs to feel fresh, fun, and new especially after being online for almost two years. These things will help open their imaginations and be able to see and explore the ocean world in person.
