Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Students

My students are brilliant, resilient, and multilingual.

Many of them are recent arrivals to the U.S. and are working hard every day to learn English, adjust to a new culture, and succeed in school. They come from a range of backgrounds and experiences, and many live in temporary housing or shelters. Books are more than just stories to them — they are bridges to language, belonging, and imagination.

My Project

Summer can be a tough time for many of my students — without access to consistent reading materials, they risk losing the progress they’ve made during the school year. I want to send each of them home with a small bundle of high-interest, culturally responsive books they can keep, treasure, and read all summer long.

The books I’m requesting are carefully selected to match their reading levels and interests — from graphic novels and bilingual picture books to chapter books with relatable characters and stories that reflect their lived experiences.

By providing these books, I’m helping my students build their home libraries, develop their love of reading, and keep growing even when school’s out.

The Impact

This project is about equity, access, and empowerment. My multilingual learners deserve the same opportunities as their peers to stay engaged with reading year-round. A book in a child’s hands can change their summer—and their life.

With your help, I can make sure that every one of my students goes into summer break with books they’re excited to read and confident they can understand. Thank you for believing in their futures.
