This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With just a few days left toward the end of the year, several of my students approached me and asked for further reading to explore in the summer. As an educator, I am delighted whenever students show an interest in literature. As an educator throughout the course of this pandemic, I am even more so enthusiastic that students wish to enrich their experience with a myriad of diverse and rigorous texts.

Time and time again the summer months have proven critical in the development of students’ literacy.

Specifically, the “summer slide” is the term coined for the regression of literacy skills throughout the summer. Help me to reinforce my students' love for learning and literature by giving them a robust library of texts to choose from this summer. While the summer months are notorious for dampening the literacy skills of students it does not have to be this way. With your help, this summer can become an enriching and enlightening experience for students.
