My Students

My school is an ethnically diverse Title I school in Georgia. Many of the students are receiving free lunch provided at school. Many of them live in nearby motels. I service students with special needs in a small group setting. Their family environment is very challenging for my students, and they are socially, economically deprived in many areas. They come to school expecting teachers to care, love, and provide for their needs.

Students need their summer to be memorable no matter whether they have to stay inside or have the freedom to move around.

During this current COVID19 pandemic, I am doubtful whether my special needs students will have a memorable summer this year. With the increased unemployment rate and budget cuts, I am worried about their basic provisions. The parents of my students were in a challenging situation with providing food for their families. This situation takes priority over educational and other needs. Their needs vary in all areas such as physical, social, and emotional well being. This project is to support some of their many needs.

My Project

Students are finishing this school year in an unusual way as ever before. At present, education is not the only challenge for students. Their challenge is raising a higher concern for their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.

The beneficiary student of this project is living in a motel which is a homeless shelter.

The food items in this project will take care of one of my student's physical well being. The games, toiletries, and school supply kit will provide the needed care inside the home with his parents and siblings to build a strong social and emotional support within the family. By providing the fundamental needs, student and his family will have some time to establish fond memories during summer.
