Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are working to provide our students with fun, educational, at-home summer bags to help continue and maintain the skills they have learned throughout this school year. We are wanting to make personalized backpacks and bags for students to take home and use over the summer. These items will help our students to continue to work on their fine and gross motor skills. We are wanting to supply them with items such as bubbles, beach balls and a few snacks. We would also like to provide them with playdough and playdough mats for them to work on. Playdough is a powerful learning tool for many reasons. While poking, rolling, and squishing playdough, children develop the small muscles in their fingers and hands. They use hands, fingers and tools to pound, push, poke, shape, flatten, roll, cut and scrape the Playdough.

Through these manipulations, children develop eye-hand coordination and the ability to match hand movement with eye movement.

They also gain strength and improve dexterity in their hands and fingers, critical areas of physical development for writing, drawing and other purposes. The items purchased through this project will provide our students with activities that they can continue their learning while at home.
