I'm pleased to be teaching a Summer Drawing class, and I need to re-stock my art supplies so that my students can work in a variety of materials and techniques. In teaching this year I have seen how students are still recovering from the lockdown and self isolation period caused by Covid-19, and art-making and developing their skills in a variety of drawing materials and techniques can help them regain their sense of themselves, build confidence, and get them on track for a future career in the arts.
My Summer Drawing class will give students experiences in drawing in charcoal, chalk pastel, and a variety of other media.
Students will first begin a series of exploration drawings - where they experiment with the drawing materials, before planning and executing their finished work. This course will help students to share their ideas, talk about their work as well as their peers' work, and they will come away with a piece for their portfolio!
