My Project

This summer I'd like to give my students a bit of a break from the academic rigor of the school year, but also provide a safe space for them to spend their days doing something that they enjoy. Sneaker customization is something many of them have expressed interest in and that will allow them to create wearable art.

We will incorporate lessons about sneaker culture and design and follow a step by step process of customizing the shoes.

Students will first research various techniques and design inspirations. After, they will submit a design proposal which includes their design choice and color pallet. Once approved they will move on to the painting/drawing phase. By the end of the week long session students will have a personal wearable piece of artwork that is a reflection of their interests and creativity.
