My Students

Our classroom is full of active 9-10 year olds who love to learn, but hate to sit still. Each morning they arrive to school eager and full of anticipation in what the day can bring. I greet the energetic students at the door with a hug or handshake and we settle in to learn.

The students are inquisitive, full of wonder, and have creative solutions to solve authentic problems.

Each one loves to be heard and is working towards empathy skills. Along with academic learning, they are building life long skills through social emotional development, cooperation, problem solving and growth mindset.

Teaching is my passion. To see the ah-ha moments when content is understood keeps me driven, but what I love to see more is the hard work and dedication in between the moments of struggle and success. With attitude and effort, students will find a way to soar.

My Project

Students will utilize the flexible seating to benefit their learning style. Although some students prefer a standard desk and chair, other students are finding it hard to sit still for the duration of a class period. With the wobble chairs, students will be able to move freely without tipping or falling out of their chair. Students often times enjoy sitting on the ground, and with the floor seating option they will be able to sit near the front to participate, observe, and engage in group discussion.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work and who to work by.

The increased blood flow in the brain, caused by the active students, allows to keep young minds alert and focused.
