Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading is an essential component in every student's learning experience. Reading and books can open doors to unimaginable places.

All my second grade students are English Learners in an inner city school.

They come from Spanish speaking homes. Most of them are two grade levels behind in reading. My students are beginning to decode and are beginning to get excited about reading on their own. Sometimes I see them get discouraged because they read too slowly or the text is too above their fluency level. Therefore, in our class my students are working on becoming fluent second grade readers.

My Project

Having access to the Dr. Seuss Library, students will benefit from books at their level. Having access to fluency folders and fluency games will provide my students with reading practice as well. These games will also give them an opportunity to increase their reading comprehension. And what better way to read and learn than in a clean environment!

Your donations will help bring better resources that my students need in our classroom.

They will benefit from these resources in becoming better readers. I feel that my students will appreciate these extra activities as well as enable them to get motivated to read.
