Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are passionate about learning. They are first graders that love to hear new stories. They are excited when I introduce new things into our classroom.

When my students are excited, it makes me excited.

It inspires me to find new things for them to experience and enjoy. When we work on a project or start a new topic they love to share and participate in the class conversations. Our school community consists of recently immigrated families. Our families work long hard days, some with two jobs to provide best opportunities for their children. Providing them with the best education possible is what they want for their children and it is what the children deserve. I am building and encouraging a love of reading and learning that I want them to take with them throughout their lives.

My Project

Learning to read is a challenging task for a child. Children must feel accomplishments when practicing their reading skills. Having the right texts will allow them to read with fluency as they practice the reading strategies they learn.

Young readers must be inspired to continue practicing their reading.

These readers will be the tool they need to practice their reading skills and feel the joy of completing a reading task. This will give the children the desire to continue reading and to learn the skills necessary to build on their reading comprehension.
