Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Though my students live in a high-poverty area and often lack needed essentials at home, they love coming to school each day.

In school, they feel safe and are excited to learn due to the consistency and community they feel every day in the classroom.

Each day, they are welcomed with an open heart and open arms. My students love to read, listen to music, and are free to show off their individual artistic abilities in a warm and loving environment.

My Project

The materials I chose will help my diverse class of second graders throughout the school year and beyond! The pocket chart and stand will help with whole group discussions of math, language arts, ELD, and more! Students will place each math or language card in the pocket charts for all to see and learn. Having the chart hanging up in the classroom will be a great quick reference for students to check their work. The math cards will be a hands-on activity for them to learn before they complete their independent work on their own. The second grade math centers will complete my small group instruction for them to self-check and learn during each center rotation. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are all included so differentiation will be tailored to each individual student.
