My students are unique in their way, meaning each one has a specific task or goal that they are working on to be more responsible and accountable for their behaviors. In my classroom, I help my students to focus on their goals of completing tasks such as assignments, learning to be accountable for their behaviors and motivating and inspiring leaders, not followers. My students suffer from behavior issues and some are just facing depression because of home issues so my job is to help these kiddos stay on task, making them understand that they are important and they are loved and they can be successful in school by completing their assignments and being able to stay in class without having to be removed due to behavior. My kids are hands-on and enjoy building and creating things and that is why I am looking to get hands-on activities for the kids to be inspired, knowing their worth and that can achieve their goals. Who knows we are supporting future leaders and builders in our communities.
Having the LEGOS in the classroom not only stimulates hand and eye coordination but it motivates our kids to want to have a voice in the community by the things they build. Meaning when our kids are active they get creative and make statements like"if we had a building like this we can help those who don't have houses or we need a place that offers free doctor care. These kids know things and they want to help their community, they want to help others and I believe we have some future architects in the making who want to improve our world and I want them to be able to express that using the legos'.
