My Students

What everyday problem would you like to solve when you grow up? This is the question that drives our 6th-8th graders in our technology math class. Many of the students in this class have moved into our district and have struggled with math concepts. We have a transient population of students, which means at some point the student/s may have missed some very important math skills because of moving from place to place. The class promotes additional math services besides the students' core math class. In order to develop the needed math skills, students need original problems, allowing students to be creative while learning to solve their math problems. Which leads to reflecting on the process they used to solve that problem and evaluating what worked well and what needs improvement. Every student matters and should have the opportunity to learn the skills of problem-solving and creativity.

My Project

Students will use the educational math posters for guidance during their online math lessons and during online math challenges. The math posters will provide the students with quick references to different math concepts.

Students will be encouraged to advance their math skills by using the flashcards for weekly classroom challenges.

The triangle fact family flashcards will help strengthen the students' basic math skills.

Given the chance to produce stronger math skills the students will be more confident in their math classes. When students are given the chance to explore the world of mathematics there are endless possibilities to gain knowledge.
