Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kiddos live in one of the roughest neighborhoods in California. Yet, each of these kiddos works incredibly hard just to make it to school every day. They are here ready to learn so that they can make a difference in their community and the broader community.

Each of my students has a unique voice, and it's amazing to watch how resilient they are.

Every day presents a new challenge for them, but they challenge the world back, creating a culture of progress on campus.

My Project

My students need extra materials in my class to mark texts and their notes. It's helpful for students to have post-its to mark texts that do not belong to them, in addition to pens and high lighters to mark notes and texts that have been printed for them.

All of my students are continuing to build their academic language skills, and to do so, we need to make visible word banks that can be left up in the room for weeks at a time.

Sticky easel pads are great for this task as we can hang them and take them down as necessary. In past years we had funding for these supplies, but the funding has been cut this year. I would love to see my students setup for success despite budget cuts.
