My Students

Most of my students have sensory issues and have been exposed to sensory play. I intend on introducing them to sensory play in a sensory gym to help them overcome their sensory processing issues.

My students are beautiful children from many diverse backgrounds.

Unfortunately my students come from very poor and families and don't get exposure to many things that every child should be exposed to. They all suffer from Autism Spectrum Disorder, which could be very challenging for the child and family. My students are very caring, loving and compassionate. The school in which I work and service my students is a low budget school that does not have much resources to create a sensory gym for my students. My students have so much to offer and I want to help them overcome some obstacles that are preventing them from reaching their goals.

My Project

The sensory classroom/gym will be setup with different stations that will help my students overcome their sensory and textile issues. The sensory gym will have sand tables, water tables, trampolines, a pretend play station, different texture ball stations and a ball pit. Gym class for most children consist of playing football, kickball, basketball and other team sports. However, my students would benefit more if they had a sensory gym assessable to them at school.Some activities the students will be participating in is learning to play with other students in the ball pit or becoming comfortable playing in sand and water as well as releasing a lot of tension by jumping on the trampoline.

Donations for this project will be highly appreciated by my students, organization and myself.

It will help me be able to help my students and their families tremendously. The simple things we do with our own children everyday like take a bath, go to the beach, go in a pool or sprinklers and play with other children in a playground, my students and their families struggle with every day due to my students sensory issues. A sensory gym will help my students explore the world how we explore it.
