Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember the first time you read and book and it had YOUR name in it!

I teach a class for students with severe and profound mental and physical disabilities.

There are five students in the class. They range in age from seven to ten. Their disabilities include cerebral palsy, vision impairments, Dandy Walker Syndrome, epilepsy, excess muscle tone, and lack of muscle tone. Three of the students are non mobile. They all have complex physical, mental, emotional, and sensory needs.

My Project

Learning social skills, feeling, and routines is often a difficult task for all children. Teaching children with disabilities to understand these concepts is even more challenging. Abilitations has a great new product, Success Stories. These books will help to teach a variety of concepts including feelings, school rules and routines, sharing, playing together, making friends, and more. These stories are are customized so they can use the child's mode of communication, their name, and you can even have the characters look like them. These books can help to make the learning process more personalized and meaningful for the students.

These materials will ensure that the students in my class are provided with the means necessary to learn and communicate to the best of their abilities while at school.

The smiles on their faces when they have participated in an activity and been successful is priceless. Please help us by donating to our project.
