My Students

Do you remember the first time you achieved a goal that you set for yourself and all the hard work you did to accomplish that feat?

My students are in an impoverished neighborhood and attend a Title One school where over 90% of them receive free lunch.

They come to school each day with a thirst for knowledge and the need to be successful. They are often faced with challenges in their homes and neighborhoods that they carry with them each day.

My Project

With curriculum demands and state testing at the forefront of education, the real work within the classrooms is being looked over. However, I want my students to show their successes and hard work by creating their very own Goal Binder. Within the binder, students will house all of their work in reading, writing, and math with an emphasis on goal setting and individual tracking of goals. The students will place their work within the sheet protectors and separate the subjects using the dividers. The binder shelf will display all of the binders and will be easily accessible to each student.

Students are expected to be career and college ready by the time they finish school.

With your help and support, my students will have the necessary skills of setting, tracking, and achieving their goals. They will be able to manage and track their progress in an organized way. Thomas Henry Huxley once said, "The rung of a ladder was never meant to rest upon, but only to hold a man's foot long enough to enable him to put the other somewhat higher." Please help my students climb the ladder!
