Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! Most of them have been at the school since kindergarten, and our school is special because we can really develop a close relationship with each individual student as they grow up.

As a school with a bilingual program, students are immersed in rigorous instruction in both English and Spanish!

There are numerous benefits to being bilingual and students work very hard to access the curriculum despite it being a challenge. We have both Spanish-dominant and English-dominant speakers, which means that 100% of our students are second language learners!

My Project

This is the best year because I got to loop with my kiddos, meaning that I get to spend a second year with the same group. This is great because I have gotten to know them so well in 5th grade and now I can really push them to make greater strides in 6th grade!

It is important for these young ones to stay excited and engaged in their learning!

These texts will help my kiddos build on their learning and engage them in a variety of interesting texts during class time and at home! Their faces when they have a new book in their hands is priceless and something that, as a teacher, I want to make sure to provide as often as possible. The stickers will serve as a motivator whenever they finish a book or a difficult task associated with it. This is a quick, inexpensive incentive that will keep them excited and wanting to earn more!
