My Students

As a special education teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are eager to learn so they may become future leaders and make an impact within their community.

I co-teach an amazing class of 32 kids in Jamaica, Queens. Many of my students are English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities. Most receive free and reduced price lunch. All of my students are creative, thoughtful, and eager learners.

My Project

The use of tablets have become a reality in my students' world due to Covid. My students use their tablets for the majority of their learning. Since remote learning has occurred, they have been challenged by completing their own assignments. They have a difficult time typing and inputting information into their assignments, leading them to resort to paper and then uploading a picture. This makes it difficult for them when they travel from home to school and forget their hard work in the last place they left.

Having a wireless keyboard and a stylus will help to take the frustration out of the use of technology.

These tools will create an easier learning environment as they will have a keyboard they are already familiar with to type in text-based assignments. The stylus will help boost creativity while doing project-based learning remotely. They are able to complete tasks that involve dragging and dropping, along with other interactive activities. Having the ability to use the stylus and wireless keyboard will help students be able to efficiently complete assignments and they will be able to have their assignments readily available no matter where their learning takes place. Having these tools will also be easier to transport instead of having multiple notebooks and puts the magic of learning from their fingertips to their tablets.
