My Students

Think back to when you where in Pre-K, ahhh the smell of breakfast, the rhyming songs, playtime, and then... Naptime!!! Sometimes this transitions can be nervous for children, what better way to help them, than a nice stuffed animal? Even better a teddy bear that they create on their own.

My students are active and friendly 4/5 year old students in Pre-k.

My students are beginning to express themselves more and more each day. This trip to Build a Bear will allow them to express themselves creatively. My students enjoy pretend play, and expressing themselves in housekeeping, play-dough and block area. My school is a title 1 school located in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn. The school provides a friendly, warm and welcoming environment for all of the students.

My Project

My Pre-k students will be able to boost their self confidence by choosing their own teddy bears, and dressing them up as they would like. This activity will also help them to improve hand eye coordination as they will have to stuff the teddy bears themselves. There is also a science component in this activity, as, the children will also use a simple machine. This trip is truly a hands on, out of classroom learning experience.

This project will improve my classroom by allowing my students to have a feeling of tremendous pride of what they have accomplished.

My students will be able to discuss with one another all the interesting and maybe not so interesting moments the trip entailed. My students will have a lifetime memory by creating these bears.
