Help me give my students a centrifuge, micropipettes, and gel electrophoresis labs kits to separate DNA samples.

My Project
What is a "breast cancer gene" and how do doctors test for it? If you have it, does it mean you will definitely get cancer? How do labs separate DNA strands to determine if you have a particular gene or not? These and other questions will be answered when my students complete these labs using gel electrophoresis.
In this hands-on breast cancer genetics lab activity, students explore the world of breast cancer markers, investigating the scientific and bioethical considerations associated with genetic testing as they perform gel electrophoresis and analyze the fragment sizes by graphing out a standard curve.
The practice loading gels are essential to give the students practice using the micropipettes to load the gels to make sure they will get good results when we run the gels. The centrifuge is an essential piece of lab equipment that will be used not only with my current students, but in years to come as I continue to have them complete biotech labs.
I've been fortunate to have gel electrophoresis boxes that I received in previous years from Donor's choose projects. These additional lab equipment will make us more efficient. As the program grows, so too do our needs for additional equipment. Thank you so much for your generous support.
