Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are mostly English language learners (Ells), and the majority of my students are predominately Spanish speaking. Hispanics has been the fastest growing population in our school, students who have unique social, emotional, and academic needs based on their prior experiences.

We use different resources for working with special populations such as refugees, migrants, students with interrupted education, newcomer immigrants, who come from non-English-speaking homes and backgrounds.

My students require modified instruction in both the English language and native language, in their academic courses. These students are in need of the necessary materials to succeed, we are in a Title I school and our kids has several challenges such as working parents with 2 jobs, and moving from place to place to find better economic opportunities. However, our students come to school ready to learn and with high expectations.

It is my commitment to fulfill those expectations as much as I can, so they can receive an adequate kindergarten instruction.

I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative ways to succeed in reading!

My Project

With the recent school closures, I created Home Learning Bags for my Kindergarten students to support their early literacy at home with their families.

The majority of my students are already reading and I need to send books to read at home.

I also packed these bags full of other learning materials so families can use them at home with their children. I am also in need of plastic binders to store a lot of learning materials in my classroom and need a board to display letters and sight words in my classroom.
