This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in a high-poverty neighborhood, where many families are struggling, and almost all students receive free lunch.

The materials I am requesting are for the students I will receive in September. I am unsure of exactly who the students will be or what they will be like, but based on my ten years of experience in the district, I can make an educated guess. My class will consist of 25-30 kindergarten students. Most, if not all, of the students will receive free lunch. Many students will speak English as a second language and their parents will not speak or read English at all. All of the students will be very excited to be starting kindergarten. They will all be very eager to learn.

My Project

The supplies I am requesting will be used on a daily basis through out the entire school year. They will be use during whole group, small groups and independent work. Each student will require a supply bag to store their items, as sharing items may still not be allowed. The vinyl will be used to create custom Cricut cutouts to personalize the students' supplies. Not only will it help us keep our room organized, but it will also help students take ownership of their own materials.

I will use the cardstock and laminating pouches to create a warm and inviting environment for the students on the first day of school.

I want each student to walk into the classroom in September and feel welcomed.
