Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My schools services children with special needs from k-12th and up to 21. Majority are children on the spectrum with sensory needs.

Many rely on sensory toys to regulate their emotions.

Others express themselves through art or require needed grooming supplies as they reach their older years.

My Project

Our school services majority students on the spectrum, many of whom have sensory needs. We are trying to launch a school store where students can earn points to purchase the sensory toys of their choice. Older students with less sensory needs can purchase art materials and coloring books to express themselves. We will also have grooming choices for our students who need them.

The students will learn how to self monitor to earn points needed for their desired purchase.

It will also teach them life skills of exchange for goods needed, while supplying them with needed sensory stimulation.
