My Students

I am the reading interventionist at a Title one school. I work with all grades K to 5, using every strategy I know to help my students succeed. The majority of my students are african american and live in poverty, and they face challenges in and out of the classroom.

Though reading is a challenge for my students, they work hard everyday and will succeed with your help.

They are curious, creative, and have great imaginations.

Reading is a crucial skill but with your help they will thrive and succeed.

My Project

I am so excited this year to be the reading interventionist at my school. It has been my dream to be able to work all day with students who need specialized direct instruciton in reading. Most of my students are reading three grade levels below but with your help, I know they can close the reading gap and succeed.

We need letter tiles, writing boards, decodable books, and other Orton Gillingham manipulatives to master decoding and improve our reading.

These students are so eager to learn but due to Covid and being online for a year we have some serious catch up work to do.

We are implementing the Sipps program which is based on the Science of Reading. That means everyday my students work on sounds, decoding words, learning sight words, spelling and how to read fluently. In just the first 9 weeks I am already seeing huge gains and I know they can succeed, but we need your help. As always I can't do this without you. Thank you so much.
