Each child in my classroom loves learning and comes to school each morning eager to enter class with big smiles on their faces. My students have outstanding characteristics they bring to the class. All my students are sweet and kind friends to that new student. Some offer to help a sad friend. Students in my class always want to help me. That may include cleaning desks, reading a book to the class, or picking up trash on the floor.
I have the most amazing 1st graders that deserve to be comfortable in a student-led learning environment.
Although the method and environment they learn best will vary depending on attention issues such as ADHD or behavior issues. I incorporate various learning strategies. I need to offer more alternative options to ensure my outstanding group of first graders’ needs are met! They are indeed are an incredible group of students, and I am so blessed and thankful to have a diverse group of learners who are excited and ready to learn!
My Project
This project with flexible seating helps students become comfortable for a long day at school. Students with ADHD/ADD and behavior issues struggle to sit still all day and concentrate during class. Six-year-olds may also want to move around more. or sit in a chair that will improve his/her posture. Flexible seating also gives the student a choice to have different seats if they need to move around. I want to add two active kids' wobble chairs and a table that four students can sit around. My goal is to revitalize my classroom one project at a time.
To do this, I plan on embracing a student-focused learning environment.
I would love a calm, creative classroom based on every individual's needs. My students are great kids and deserve to be comfortable and focused on learning. The flexible movement will help my students to concentrate more in class with diverse seating.
Students that need rocking during the day will benefit from the flexibility from an uncomfortable and distracted student that may be unproductive during the day to finding a comfortable spot that fits their needs best. Flexible seating options stimulate the students' sense of touch, helping students who struggle with ADHD, ADD, and ASD.
