Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a lot of books in our classroom! But they are written in English. That is so sad, because my students are identified as English learners speakers. This year is their first approach to literacy, and it will be more meaningful if it is in Spanish.

My students are labeled as Students-at-Risk, most of them come from low income families.

They have a lot of challenges in their lives such as having to deal with parents who don't count with a stable job. They attend a Title 1 school which provides them with a free breakfast and lunch, and sometimes that's the only meals they have for the rest of the day.

My Project

With these resources that I am asking for, I will be able to conduct guided readings, read alouds and also have reading interventions with them. I will be able to introduce letters, beginning sounds, words and hopefully we will be reading complete sentences at the end of the year!

You would agree with me that reading is the most important accomplishment in your school life.
