Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in Grade 2 are inquisitive and energetic. They are learning how to self-reflect on their progress and provide feedback to their peers in various academic and social situations. One specific goal for the academic year is to understand the importance of community. In November, students will invite area veterans to a program that will honor them. Students will share poems, artwork, and ask questions of our guests.

My Project

My students need these resources to provide a base knowledge of veterans, career and community service information. Students will understand specific information about various jobs and roles that veterans serve in the community.

Second grade students will learn U.S/world geography skills and the importance of veterans.

These materials will help students understand the importance of various locales.

The texts will provide information about how veterans are important members of our community. Students will see examples of veterans in print. The books that I selected are age appropriate and will likely be engaging for students.

These materials, especially the labeling globes and veteran books will make a difference in learning by providing realistic examples of information in a variety of different ways.

As a finale to this unit, students will have the opportunity to read their books to veterans at our special celebration in November.
