Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The majority of my students come from families in which at least one parent serves in the military. Each year as many as four students move to a different state or a different country, in turn we welcome new students into our classroom. My students are five or six years of age, and at this critical age they are particularly eager to learn through exploration. They discover the world through their senses. Science is probably the best way to bring this interest to life for my students, since they already love going to the science center. Students need quality hands-on materials for them to explore while learning. A well supplied science center that offers: a talking microscope; safety goggles; real geodes; a sink and float station; kid safe prisms; magnifying glasses; individual green houses; real live caterpillars; and bug specimens will allow my students to explore, discover, learn and have fun. These experiences will prove to be much more meaningful than learning from someone telling them what they are. You will make it possible for my current and future students to experience science through hands-on learning.
