My Students

I would LOVE for my 3rd graders to be able to choose their seating while working on assignments, working with others, or silent reading in my reading/language arts class. I work in a very small community where K-12th grade are all basically on the same campus. Our students are very eager to learn and are often self directed learners. There is nothing better than having a tight knit community to be a part of, but with that "small town" feel comes minimal funds for purchases like these. After Hurricane Harvey impacted our small town, most items purchased for our school are needed items, not wants. These Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seats are definitely wants, but to help my students take ownership of their learning, this is a NEED!

My Project

Having Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seating will allow my third graders to feel empowered by having choice and control over their work environment. Approximately 80% of my whole group instruction takes place with the students sitting in their traditional desk. Once the whole group instruction is over, and the students are practicing the skills taught, working with others, or being assessed, I would like them to choose their best learning environment. Some may choose to stay in their traditional desk, while others want the freedom of finding a comfortable place on the floor. The choice is theirs! Feeling empowered and taking ownership in one's learning is a key to success in the classroom.
