Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our health and physical education students tend to be more physically active when we allow them to choose their PE activities. The students like that they can choose an activity that suits their own strengths and weaknesses. It allows the students to engage in an activity they find enjoyable and work along side other to improve their overall wellness.

The students enjoy the opportunity to select their activity for the upcoming unit because it allows them to take accountability to improve their own physical health.

We strive to expose our students to as many new activities as we can so they will live a long and healthy life filled with physical activity.

My Project

Due to our large student population our physical education equipment takes a lot of wear and tear throughout the year. Budget cuts have hit our department hard and we need help to fill our equipment needs for this year.

One of our most popular units at our school is flag football, it brings the students together to work as a team in a competitive and active environment.

Unfortunately, the flags need to be replaced every few years due to the wear and tear.

We also need indoor soccer goals for our gymnasium. We currently use taped lines on the wall and the students have often suggested we should use mini goals instead.
